I don’t know about you gals, but I don’t have the time, money or energy to waste on styling my hair. But, of course I care about how it looks. Luckily, I’ve recently found a gel that does the job of about 3 different products. It’s called Dep Texturizing Gel. With this one product, I can achieve a piecy look one day, bed-head the next, and slicked back on days when I want a sexy yet sophisticated look or if I'm just being lazy! =) What’s also great about it is that it washes out easily and clean, so my hair doesn’t get that dried-out, gunky look caused by build up from the pomade, silicone and hair spray that I would normally use. Because it’s both a texturizer and a gel, it gives me texture, definition and hold all in one so I don’t need those other products. Best of all, I bought a 12 oz. bottle for only $2.99 at Ralph’s! I think the hair gods are finally looking down on me!

The gel sounds fantastic, but what is Ralph's. Do you have an adice for dry scalp, like I don't have dandruff but my scalp is so dry I can feel it stretching sometimes is so tight. Anna, Cats Host

Dry scalp can be caused by different things. - Are you on a fat-free diet?
- Are you rinsing the shampoo out of your hair VERY well?
- What shampoo are you using?
- Did it just happen? Sometimes its just the change of seasons.
You can try using conditioner and massageing it into your scalp before rinsing it out or correcting some of the other things listed. Let me know the answers to these questions and maybe I can come up with something else.

OK here it goes, I am not on a fat-free diet, I rinse my hair very well, I was told once by a hairdresser to do it, it could be shampoo related because when it started to happen I was using some cheap shampoo that maid my scalp very itchy. Also, I used to color my hair, in fact I did it for many years and now I stopped (can't wait to fix this so I can give my head some color) all the color products I use are good quality. I will try the conditioner thing and see what it does. If you come up with some other suggestions please let me know Thanx

Hi, Ralph's is a grocery store chain in California. Hair is a fascinating thing. We used to own a wig and beauty supply store when we were in San Antonio. Lots of fascinating items! All the gels, colors, relaxers, extensions, wigs) - overwhelming! We now just do wigs over the internet ( http://www.stores.ebay.com/cajunqueenwigs). Much easier! My girlfriend's favorite - RAVE Megahold spray!

Thanks Paul for the clarification. I'll check out your wig site.

When my scalp gets itchy, it's due to skin dryness.
I have a threefold attack for this situation: 1) shampoo hair as little as necessary 2) drink more water 3) wear a hat when outside for a bit for extra protection
The hat trick is really valuable, as the head gets cooked by the sun in summer and chapped by the wind in winter.
Advice from an old friend of mine whose head would get so dry her scalp would peel: If your head is really bugging you, take an evening at home and rub moisturizer into your scalp. Seriously. She says "enjoy your punk/spikey head look for the evening and read a good book." Sleep that way if you can. Shampoo as mildly as possible in the AM.

Thank you Rae Very good suggestions. Anna Rae's suggestions jogged my memory. I wish I had thought of it before. I wrote an article on Scalp Relaxation that contains some good information on moisturizing the scalp using essential oils and massage.
