Except for the clipping, I thought I had my rag quilt done. I started it without much planning. All I knew was that I wanted my blocks cut 6 inches wide. The length varried for each block. It has a random brick look to it. So, yesterday with lots of help, if that is what you call what a four year old and a 20 month old do, I put in the last stitch. Jarrett, as you might remember, has been sore about not getting his own quilt yet, so I told him he could have this one. He was so happy. Anyway, I laid it out on the floor to get a good look at it. I realized I should have used some planning. It came out to be 45 inches by 112 inches. Perfect for your average tall and thin NBA basketball player I guess, but a little too weird looking. I was trying to figure out how to fix it. I really don't want to cut up any more shirts or pants so I might go out and by some denim and run a strip down each side to make it wider.

Sew and learn.

Michelle

Michelle,
Post a photo of your quilt! We'd love to see it, even if it a bit on the "lean" side <img src="/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

I had a similar problem with my rag quilt in that it turned out to be crib size quilt. But by that time, I didn't care anymore and didn't try to cut out more denim. It's great for the kids!

What did Jarrett think of it?

I would put a strip of rag quilting down the sides. Use a color that would pick up the other colors in the quilt and do the strip as a rag also. Use somekind of a design to hold the batting in place. Like criss crossing the stitches or something like that. I just done one that has 54, 15" blocks with the dresden plate on the front of it. This is for a kink size bed. The seams of the dresden plate are sewed out so they will ravel also. Anyway I hope I could help. Egg
