Brazillian Embroidery is one of the many forms of raised embroidery.
A very good book is "Brazilian Three-Dimensional Embroidery" by Rosie Montague. You can find it at Amazon
here. However, the designs are intricate and it may be for the more advanced person.
"Dimensional Embroidery" by Helan Pearce (
here!) is a good start to learn to do this type of raised work.
Just remember: the first rule of all embroidery is make sure that you have your basic technique sound first. Practice doing basic stitches such as stem, running, back and all your knots (french and bullion especially).
This is a very tricky style, so you may also want to check with your local Needlework Store if there are classes available.
Welcome to the world of embroidery!
