I'm wondering what people think about the name change for the Patriots' new stadium. It was the CMGi Stadium until CMGi had financial problems and had to bail out. Now the name is the Gillette Stadium. What do you think about that?

Personally, I like the new name and the new nickname (The Razor). Gillette is a New England company. OK, CMGi was too, but who knows what they do? We all know Gillette makes razors. It's a good, solid company with a very recognizable name. Better than a bunch of letters, right?

I guess I will always call it Schaeffer Stadium out of shear habit LOL! When did it change from Foxboro the CMGi? And is the new stadium built yet?

I suppose Guillette is better than another "Fleet" Stadium/Center ... but if the truth be know, I'd bet you $100 bucks Fleet financed it.

The Gillette Stadium is the new one. The Patriots just played their first pre-season game there on Saturday.

Foxboro Stadium was dismantled after the Patriots won the Superbowl. They were selling off the dirt from the field and pieces of the goalposts.

I knew they dismantalled it this past spring cuz I'd read about it .. I saw where fans were buying their season seats. So was Foxboro/CMGi interchangable?

Has the new Stadium been built on the same grounds??? Seems like it got built quick.

The Gillette Stadium has been under construction for a few years. I believe it's built in the same area as Shaeffer Stadium aka Foxboro.

I know that the dirt from the old field was moved into Gillette Stadium - well what was left of the dirt after they sold jars of it for $10 each!

Yes we went to a game at Foxboro at the old stadium and literally, the new stadium was being built right next to it. You could see them working on the new stadium while you sat in the old stadium's seats. So they can use the same parking lots and everything else. It worked out quite nicely.

I haven't been to the new stadium yet, I'll have to go to a game!

Believe it or not ... I have been by that stadium a gazillion times ... and my X went to the first game ever played in what was then called Schaeffer Stadium so many years ago ... but I have NEVER been in it. LOL!

I had much more exposure to the Patriots because the summer camp is held at Bryant College (my alma mata) and I always took summer session both in my undergraduate and graduate program. So they'd be all over campus. Also many of the players lived locally so you would run into them occasionally around town.
