I have an Oncidium, Sharry Baby that has finally stopped blooming. All the flowers have fallen off and I am left with a dead woody stalk. Should I cut it off at the base or leave it, and when I can I expect it to rebloom. I have been fairly lucky with my orchids so far, I do very little to them and they bloom like crazy.

My sharry baby flower only once a year and that is in autumn. The flowers are long lasting and like yours they are about to fall off at this time. Cut the stalk to as far as you could go and continue caring for the plant as it is. The new growth will start to emerge soon and you can start feeding again as soon as they start growing roots. Hope this help

I love the Sharry Baby ! The smell is so yummy. I had one pre-Chriastmas, but my friend talked me into letting her buy it from me . lol I am ok with it though, as she is now getting the orchid bug.

Happy Growing!

Expect blooms once a year from the new growths. I don't have one of thse, but I hear they grow like weeds. If it starts to put off more than one new growth expect it to bloom from both new growths. Provided propper care is given throughout the year. Once the plant gets bigger it may spike from both sides of the new growth. My Colm wildcatt 'ocelot' is doing that this year. Double spikes MANY flowers this year. Good Luck!!
