I loved it personally. I just got back from my second time seeing the movie... this time with a group of all girls, and all big fans of the books. These, along with other classics like the Narnia series, A Wrinkle in Time, the Hitchiker Guide series, and Ender's Game were what we grew up on!

I've always been a fan of Tolkien's work... you can see his love of culture, linguistics and anthropology in everything he does. It's the kind of movie that really encourages kids to go straight to the books afterwards too... and everything about the series has the feel of "true mythology".

I am so happy that it took this many years to find someone like Peter Jackson, who actually did this classic story justice, along with his great cast and special effects team. Gollum was great! Best facial expressions on a computer animated character I've ever seen, it gets beyond the old ideas of CGI limitations. Oh, and the purist fans of LOTR won't be disappointed, there were many lines that were completely unchanged from book to screenplay, and almost all the set and character design was based very literally on Tolkien's original words or the original illustrations of Alan Lee and John Howe. I only just saw the 3 hour movie, and it made me want to curl up with the last book,The Return of the King, and reread it tonight. I recommend this movie to anyone who's a fan of the genre, and many who aren't!

PS: Parents, I probably would just beware of taking kids under 10 to it, though. There are a lot of violent fight scenes in it.

Dear Baby,
Welcome to Dumpsville. Population: You.
Signed,
Homer Simpson

I have to say I wasn't impressed. There were too many changes from the book. Where'd those Elves come from?

I did like Gollum.

I thought the film was amazing, well done Peter Jackson!

I thought the film was just as good as the Fellowship. I was suprised to see the elves at Helm's Deep, I thought it was a little strange but I don't think it spoilt the film. Gollum, the ents and all the battle scenes were wonderful.

Very good film however I think the third, Return of the King, will be the best.

When I think about it, I agree with Yuna here. I think I found two towers more exciting but fellowship had all the main characters fighting and working together.I haven't read any of the books so its all new to me I think it was very good when frodo and sam fall asleep and you see gullem have his first scizo conversation. That was very good! And...(I'm ashamed! I cant remember what the main dwarf is called!)...he is very funny and made the film quite humouress!

Main Dwarf = Gimli, he and Legolas are great together! Gimli is very cool, Anton Gollum's crazy conversation is very good too. The battle at Helm's Deep is probable my favourite part of the film. Especially when Legolas slides down some steps on a shield and kills some orcs - that was very cool

Yeah, thats probably my fave part too! I did like the part when the tree came together and joined in with the battle with the orcs! That was really good! Did you say that in the books the elves never came to helm deeps battle?

You really should, although the fellowship werent together anymore so I thought it was better when they were altogether.
