German television plays Dirty Dancing at least four times a year (in German of course). There is some kind of cult fascination with the movie. Ghost is popular too. I like them both myself. As a multi-tasker, I can "watch" one of those movies while I do other things and still follow the storyline.
I think one of the things that makes Patrick Swayze's performance in
Ghost so intoxicating is that he is such a great dancer--I can still envision his stance in some scenes where everything is unreachable and unattainable to him. Some parts of his performance were for this reason exquisite.
One of his movies that doesn't get talked about a lot is
One Last Dance in which he costars with his beautiful dancer wife Lisa Niemi. If you've never seen this it is probably one that you'll want to add to your queue.
And I loved his cameo role in
Dirty Dancing: Havana Nights . His dance with Romola Garai was perfection: the point of his feet, the extension of his ankles and arms were effortless and absolute--no more could have been done. Patrick Swayze will be missed. (I'm glad his wife loved him as she did.)
