Here's a fascinating look at the idea of child soldiers in video games -

The Young Hero and the Child Soldier

As a culture we cringe at the idea of barely-teens in the Congo wielding automatic weapons. But we applaud when a young 8 year old in a video game goes on a rampage slaying creatures and "enemy" humans. We expect that young kid will have no issue with the death and with taking on adults.

Why do we have that disconnect?

I haven't read or seen anything about that, I'll have to look into it sometime.

To Lisa,

Remember,bowling for Columbine,by Michael Moore, I beleive a
sweedish young man killing about 60 persons on an island.
I had heard on t.v. that at the age of 10 a child had seen more than a 100,000 killings ,Some kids when asked why did you kill this person ,answers ,wanted to know what it felt to kill for real! The lobbying of the game co's is so strong your govmt, mine and any other else will not try to stop this crazyness.

May peace be with us

Fiction and reality; there is a huge difference between the two, when I was young which was not long ago most people were able to see the difference and those who did not were laughed at because they were wrong and idiotic which is still the case now but sadly most people are now like that instead of knowing a simple thing like the difference between fiction and reality!
