I am having problems with my 55 gallon freshwater tank. I have baby african cichlids in it and I can't get rid of the green water. Can anyone help me so I can get rid of it and not get it again? Thank you

Green water indicates algae which results from too much light and/or too much organics and/or phosphates in water.

I agree with PaPeRo.

What are your water stats?

High Nitrates will promote algae growth. Most people overfeed.

I have a 70g with Africans in it and get virually no algae growth.

Also tank position is important. If you tank gets any direct sunlight. Algae growth will be very hard to manage.
