Can somebody tell me about the m and n dashes? When is it proper to use them and how do you do it in Word and Works?

The Punctuation Guide
has a good explanation of the differences in usage between these two dashes.
When I use Word the em-dash appears automatically if I type something like this:
Dorado is the dolphinfish – also known as mahi-mahi – and it's a large predator.
But I can't help on the en-dash. I'm afraid I just use a hyphen.

I found what I was looking for at
Lisa Shea
She has a great article there on the N and M dash.

Thanks Mona! I still have problems with the "N" dash and "M" dash. I'll keep it for reference.

daisybun, Lisa has some great origami! I used to do that a long time ago. I wish I had the patience to pursue it some more.

Maybe after I get a few of my books online, I'll start doing origami. Right now with getting this house up for sale, I am so busy!

You are busy daisybun. Origami is fun. I taught my great nephew and my granddaughters some easy origami...
