For a while, my laptop has been having problems reading CDs - it can still read DVDs fine, but most of the time it can't find any CD I put in. I also have a super-fast external drive which is also starting to do the same thing - it can usually find the CD after thinking about it for ~10 mins but then it can't do anything with the files on the disc. Any ideas as to what might be wrong?

maybe you have a virus? or something might be wrong with your HD? try and look through your manual or call the place your computer is made by and talk with them? It maybe something small that you can fix, do everything you can before taking it to somewhere because you might be ending up paying big for something that you could have fixed yourself. Ihope it works because trust me I would have went nuts already!

Yup, I'm starting to go nuts! Thanks for the advice anyway, I've done all sorts of virus checks so I don't think it's that, but I think it could be a HD problem seeing as my external drive is doing the stupid same thing - ehhh, my laptop's an old clunker, I should probably get a new one anyway. <img src="/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />
