Hi All,
I am the editor for the Mental Health site. I felt this weeks article was appropriate to post here as well.

We have all felt sad or blue at different times in our lives and it usually passes after a few days; but for some people, these feelings are more severe and last longer. Depending on the severity and duration of symptoms, a person may be diagnosed with one of these depressive disorders.

Depressive Disorders

If there are any areas/topics you would like to read more about, please let me know!

This is a very good article.

For most of my adult life I have battled depression from one extreme to the other. I have conquered it many times, with counseling for some of it, and often just on my own and without medication. Right now I am not doing too badly with it, but I know how to recognize it when it is getting bad. As I get older I gain a better understanding and acceptance of myself so I don't find that I am deeply depressed very often anymore. Knowing I am predisposed to the condition helps me to deal with it better as a whole.

No wonder we get along so well Deb smile !!

This is just like me reading my own writing.

It's comforting to know another human being also shares this.

Happy Memorial Day !

To Debbie and Burt,

I had 3 mental deseases in my life.
Agoraphobia,paranoia,manic depressive.

The first two I got rid of by myself, through reprogramming of the subconscious ,which I teached for 12 years to about a total
assistance,of about 10,000 people.Never charged a penny.

Tamed Manic depression, but the little monster was always ready to jump in.At the age of 57 or about, met with my doctor and pharmacist. They found the right combination of pills.I am not addicted, skip some pills often, not stone,BUT THE MONSTER DISAPPEARED.I have not known anxiety since then.I never thought this would happen.
So hang in there there is a solution,I know ,I am living it every instant of my life.

With friendship

Thank you Debbie.
I truly believe that when one embraces the painful and sad aspects of themselves-instead of pushing those feelings away-can experience more acceptance and loving care toward themselves. This can only help the healing and make the experience of the sadness more tolerable and manageable.

I am so glad to hear you are doing well. Depression is a very uncomfortable, and potentially dangerous feeling. I do hope that those that are struggling seek support. We all need a bit of help now and then.

Burt....yes we do get along very well, and we do have some things in common. I certainly understand where you are coming from.

We really have to take care of ourselves in order to stay mentally healthy. That is an important part of our lives.....self care. Sometimes better referred to as self preservation.

Happy Memorial Day to you as well. Love you, Brother!

We all do need help now and then, and I know when I get bad I need to seek support, whether from friends, family, or a professional. It is important to love yourself enough to seek assistance when it becomes too tough to deal with life on a daily basis. Depression indeed can be very overwhelming and painful, and when it takes over it is time to get some help.
