Cyn,
I would love to read that book after you. Our little girl, at almost 26 months is strong-willed. Maybe this just runs in the family...wink, wink. Time-outs are not effective, she tells us when a time-out is needed and will sit and wait it out like it's no big deal. Taking toys away, to earn them back later also doesn't work. She hands them over willingly and just reminds us what we took away and why. Like Stevie, she has the most amazing little mind. It can be challenging to keep up with the things she is interested in. At 26 months, now that she knows about 42 states, she is asking for their capitol cities. She explains to me that a 6 is a 9 just turned around. She just says and does things that make me think...should a 2 year old be doing this?
The one thing I have found that helps get through those moments is to get her outside. Sometimes I think, like all of us, she feels cooped up. We try to get her to the park everyday to burn off some energy and "exercise" If that doesn't work, a trip to the market or to the Mall to play works too. Yeah, after work I'd rather relax but she needs her outlet too.
