My roommate recently bought a $120 Chi Iron. This thing works MAGIC on my hair. I have really thick long hair that up until now took hours to be able to wear it down without it being poofy. I love the Chi Iron, and I would use it all the time, but I'm wondering if it is damaging to your hair. I know that straightening your hair is really bad for it, but this Chi Iron is supposed to not be bad for it at all. Atleast that is what my roommate's hair dresser told her. Is this true?

With my conair ceramic straightener it used to take forEVER to straighten it, with the Chi iron it probably takes me about 30 minutes (i have a LOT of hair though). Also, it comes with a warranty so u can send it in to get fixed whenever something happens to it. my roommate got hers at trade secret in the mall.

I have a Chi iron also, I've had mine for about 3 or so years now. I don't use it that much anymore because I cut my hair pretty short and I used to only have a little bit of a wave anyways. So the chi does work great, it's supposed to cause less damage because it's ceramic. I'm not so sure about it not causing any damage at all though. What you can do is get a product that protects your hair from the heat. I use Bumble and Bumble Styling Lotion. Not only does it work as a styling product, but it also puts that protective layer on your hair so that when you go to blow dry your hair, or straighten your hair it keeps it from getting damgaged. You can find it online or at most nice salons. There's similar products also, but I just can't think of any others. Hope this helps. fish

Chi irons are great. I love them too. Just be careful about leaving the iron in one place for any length of time and don't go over the same strand more than 3 times.

If your hair is in good condition and strong, I doubt that you will have a problem. I have seen breakage on hair that is highlighted or color treated and hair that is fine in texture.

Make sure you use products that help protect your hair from heat (as Carissa said) and keep conditioning your hair.

Call salons in your area. One of them should either have one or will order it for you.

Hi,
I have a ceramic hair straightener. Is that the same as a chi iron-it's like a curling iron only with 2 flat surfaces. I love it, whatever it is. I'm recovering from a bad perm, and the iron really helps my new short, straight hair.

You can order a chi from Sally's beuty supllies. Depending on weather or not ther on said they can range from $70.00 to $150.00. If you have long hair and like to chi it. But you go over it more then 2 or 3 times. Make sure you ALWAYS put some kind of leave in conditioner on it. Or if you live close to a sallys. Go there and ask them for a product to put on your hair before you chi it. SO you don't damage your hair. But also sence you chi it and this is for anyone who chi's there hair more then 3 times a month. Make sure you do a home deep conditioning treatment at least once a week on your hair. So you can put protein, moisture, and other very impartant veitamins back into your hair. Wither you chi, curl, blowdry, anything that has to do with heat. You need to do a deep conditioning treatment so that you so keep talking out the things your hair needs to stay strong without putting them back as mush as you can.

I hope I helped you with what I said and if you got any other questions feel free to e-mail me at any time!!!
