My husband and I went to the 12:15 liturgy for Ash Wednesday and received our ashes. We didn't receive them in the usual way, but they were sprinkled on top of our heads. I wonder if this was once traditional. To tell you the truth, I think we have been in Lent for a year. Perhaps this is God's plan.
Today is the First Sunday of Lent. Jesus is in the dessert and is tempted.
These are today's readings:
1 Peter 3:18-22
Today is the Second Sunday of Lent. Am I living life courageously in the Lord? Today's Gospel was about the Transfiguration.
First reading: Genesis 22:1-2, 9-13, 15-18
Psalm: 116:10, 15-19
Second reading: Romans 8:31-34
Gospel: St. Mark 9:2-10
3/14/21 - Laetare Sunday - Sunday of Rejoicing - Come to the Light - midpoint of Lent
2 Chronicles 36:14-16, 19-23
Responsorial Psalm Psalms 137:1-2, 3, 4-5, 6
2nd Reading Ephesians 2:4-10
Verse Before the Gospel John 3:16
Gospel John 3:14-21
Today is Palm Sunday. We read the processional Gospel and the Passion at Mass today. My husband and I were in Jersualem in 2019 and as the Gospel unfolded, I traveled through Jerusalem again.
I posted this in another site and wanted to share with as many as I can.
I know we are in the middle of Holy Week but if you have some time you might want to listen to the Passiontide lectures of Msgr. Charles Pope. The lecture is for Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday of Holy Week. Here is the link:https://instituteofcatholicculture.org/events/passiontide
