My husband and I went to the 12:15 liturgy for Ash Wednesday and received our ashes. We didn't receive them in the usual way, but they were sprinkled on top of our heads. I wonder if this was once traditional. To tell you the truth, I think we have been in Lent for a year. Perhaps this is God's plan.

Today is Palm Sunday. We read the processional Gospel and the Passion at Mass today. My husband and I were in Jersualem in 2019 and as the Gospel unfolded, I traveled through Jerusalem again.

I posted this in another site and wanted to share with as many as I can.

I know we are in the middle of Holy Week but if you have some time you might want to listen to the Passiontide lectures of Msgr. Charles Pope. The lecture is for Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday of Holy Week. Here is the link:

It's Lent - times flies. Did you receive your ashes? Those distributing ashes very carefully painted the cross on our foreheads yesterday. It wasn't just a dab or a blob.

What will you do special for Lent this year? Fasting, Praying, Almsgiving. Mathew Kelly of Dynamic Catholic offered this idea - A Holy Moment. It doesn't take much, a smile, a helping hand, just a subtle way of giving. Reminds me of scouting - "Do a Good Deed Daily."
