One of my favorite places to visit in the Midwest has to be the West Baden area of Indiana. I fell in love with it many years ago when I first spied an old castle looking structure off the main road while travelling through. It was the West Baden Springs Hotel. Vacant and quite literally falling apart, it was still absolutely stunning. We have gone back several times during the restoration process to watch the progress and enjoy the area. It is now open for business again and back to it's former grandeur. The entire are is beautiful, the people are friendly and down to earth, and it is simply enchanting each and every time we go.

What is your favorite Midwestern vacation spot? I would love to know.
Angola, Indiana and Steuben County as a whole is a popular vacation spot. The county has 101 natural lakes. All kinds of water sports are available. Vacationers rent cottages (reserve a year in advance)or drive in for the day.

Potawatami Inn at Pokagon State Park offers very nice rooms and small cottages. It has a good resturant and a beach. The park also has camping area and walking, bike and horse trails. In the winter the tobaggon slide is popular.
I love Pokagon. We have taken the kids up there to the beach many times. I remember camping there as a kid as well, sitting around the campfire making s'mores and pudgy pies.
I love Rock Springs Ranch near Salina. It is a 4-H retreat center. Everytime that I have been there, it has been wonderful.
