What do you think - do many of us see money as a negative? Negative in the sense that it is stressful.

Or do we see money as a positive - something that motivates us to succeed and enjoy life?

Someone asked me that question and I honestly didn't have an answer.

Money in itself is not bad, it is what it can do to humans that is the problem!

I view money in the same category as cars and guns.

It can be used for good or bad depending on the person who has it in their hands.

I think there's no doubt that money is good; otherwise we would have to trade and barter to get the goods that we ourselves can't produce. What an inconvenience. But unfortunately, it can become the focus of people's lives when it isn't necessarily what they need to make them happy and so that's what's bad about it.

Money is energy. If your energy is negative toward money, then the experiences you have with money will be negative.

Much of what we think and feel about money comes from watching our role models. If they believed money was negaive, then the children probably will too.

I agree with the others that money is simply an item like a car. It is how you use it that can be good or bad. I think of money as being good because you can use it to help others. For example I was reading about those people in Haiti eating dirt cookies because it's all they could afford and my first thought was how I could help them out. I don't want to just "send money" because that usually is not a healthy long term solution. However I'm going to talk to the crafting group I know in Haiti and find out what organizations like theirs are growing and taking on new local workers - because then if I run a sweepstakes for their craft to help them get more publicity and clients, they can hire more workers and more people will be earning an income so they don't have to eat mud every day.

So I think of my money - the money I donate to run the sweepstakes - of being a very powerful force for good, for people who right now can only afford a 5 cent mud cookie to eat.
