I'm new to tatting. A friend of mine saw what I was doing and asked if I could make her a medallion. I've been pondering how to make her pattern into a necklace since. I just can't seem to wrap my head around it. So I thought I'd ask the experts for your advice. Any help would be appreciated. Here's the emblem she wants tatted into a medallion.

Many vintage tatting patterns, especially small motifs, make wonderful pendants, with or without beads. Since vintage patterns are public domain, you don't need to worry about infringing on anybody's copyright. Just add a ribbon or necklace chain for wearing, and it will look lovely.
Hi Beth,
Yarnplayer steered you right! These vintage patterns are just right for making into pendants.
Here are many vintage patterns you can download free:

And Beth, If you want to use a specific pattern which image you cannot display here, you are welcome to contact me at tatting@BellaOnline.com and attach the image to your email message.
Thanks for all the help and advise. I have looked for this pattern which is similar to a celtic triskelete, but have yet to find it. I'm still searching the web, but so far have had no luck.
Thanks Georgia for posting the pic for me.
p.s. I'm a needle tatter, so if you could figure out a pattern keeping that in mind it would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Beth Vawter
HI Beth! You can work this yin yang design with the shuttle, the needle, a blunt needle used as if it were a shuttle (good idea for this)or even finger tat it.
http://www.tat-man.net/tatterville/tatpatterns/yinyang.pdfTat 3 separate pieces and then lay them out to form the design of three you are seeking. This will allow you to see where you should plan the joins on the real one. Good luck.
