Well, maybe she was captured w/o her knowledge and it is actually Tony's baby BUT; chronologically speaking: it is Philip's.

I knew as soon as she was pregnant its Shawns baby.. theres no way Belle stays with Phillip forever on the show because hes annoying.

I think it's Phillip's baby. The baby came a month early and you never know how much time has actually gone by between episodes. The baby's Phillips to create more drama in the long run between Belle and Shawn.

This is a response to your saying that Belle and Shawn never had sex. YES THEY DID. It was over the winter when Belle and Shawn got into the car accident and they were in that barn that caught on fire. They had sex alright! But the months do not add up to be Shawns. But of course, this is a Soap Opera. They will find out that after Philips accident when he lost his leg, he is sterile. So there is no way that the baby can be Philips, thank God, because Belle does belong with Shawn.

Belle and Shawn did have sex in the barn in the snowstorm after Belle went off the bridge on the way to Jan's after Mimi's discovery of Jan keepn Shawn a prisoner. They were Hypothermic and got naked to use their bodyheat to keep warm. They had sex then the candles got the barn on fire then the EMT's found them naked wrapped up together. Therefore I truly believe the baby is Shawn's. I do not know how they will discover it unless the baby needs blood for some reason and Belle nor Phillip match then the probability of him fathering Claire comes into question then the discovery is made. Kirsten Storms tried to come back. Ken Corday said NO! Martha Madison had added a more mature side to Belle. and had worked hard filling the role and making it her own. He does not work that way. Everyone knows that whoever is selected to be the godfather of the baby usually ends up being the father. This story line will be no different. The writer's know that Shawn and Belle belong together, and the baby is how they are finally going to be a couple again. I think that either Phillip will find out he is sterile and can't have kids, or the baby will get sick and need some kind of blood donation and Shawn will be the person that is a match, which would allow everyone to know that HE is the father and not phillip's!!! Horray for when that day finally comes.

Intoxication, amnesia or something else that makes the viewer not want to watch anymore because the plot gets so unbelievable.
