After how many months of conception, does the child become alive in the womb? Has this period been established?
Posted By: Modern Woman Re: Life after conception - 11/24/06 02:12 PM
Unless somebody knows the answer to this the debate about abortion is incomplete.
Posted By: Alexandra Re: Life after conception - 11/24/06 02:42 PM
A human child is known as an embryo up to eight weeks after fertilisation/conception. It is afterwards referred to as a Foetus, from the end of the eighth week after conception to the moment of birth, as distinguished from the earlier embryo.

It is from the eight week that the embryo begins developing features and characteristics of a human infant, as opposed to having been previously indistinguishable from an embryo of any four-legged mammal.....

This is the purely biological and scientific definition, you understand.
Posted By: Alexandra Re: Life after conception - 11/24/06 04:23 PM
There is also much debate and discussion as to whether a foetus is born sexless,or born female and then determines whether to 'remain' female or transform and produce male characteristics.... Juging by the amount of discussion in the forum below, the Jury is still out on a technicality....

Interesting....
because in the UK, Doctors will not now give the sex of the child to parents before birth, because studies show that specific ethnic groups have a definite inclination to abort a perfectly healthy baby if it's female....

Depends. I you have have been trying so hard to get pregnant that your every waking moment was consumed with having a child, then your child is alive the second that egg and sperm meet. If you are waking up after a night of unprotected sex with a virtual stranger and you are anxiously awaiting your period, then the questions of life changes significantly.

The unborn have their own unique DNA from conception. They are Human beings from that point.

This makes sense to me.

It is a human life from conception.
Posted By: Modern Woman Re: Life after conception - 04/06/07 07:30 AM
Then with every abortion we are killing a human being. are you saying that texas dave?

Sorry I am not TD but I would say yes with every abortion a human life is taken.

Its pretty obvious isint it?? A pregnancy left undisturbed most of the time results in a healthy new life. When a person chooses to terminates a pregnancy that life growing inside is "terminated" ( thats the nicest way I can put it)

Sometimes abortion is nessassary and there should be the choice but it must be an agonising thing to go through. I am very greatful I have never had to do that.Funny enough I dont think I will be having chldren myself. I have been on birth control for 12 years and I have never had an "accident".

I am Pro choice because nobody should force a woman to carry a baby that is not wanted bt I just wish more women who had finished their families or are childfree would get permanatley steralised so as to stop abortions from happening because it is so sad and tragic when a pregnancy is "terminated

Yes, termination of pregnancy is sad and tragic.

"A pregnancy left undisturbed most of the time results in a healthy new life." ... The key word her is "results". It isn't a child yet - not until it's fully developed or born. Early on it's a potential person, not a person. It's easy for us (me included) to relate to it as a "baby" but society shouldn't impose it's beliefs about when life begins onto others, so I am pro-choice. I don't think abortion is great, easy, or always the best choice, but I sure don't think I or anyone else should be making that decision for other women.

Yes.

Both the sperm and ova are living cells. When they unite, they create a unique living cell that will go through various stages from that moment on through the next 80 or so years. Each stage of life, has different characteristics and is precious
Posted By: nosy Re: Life after conception - 04/25/07 08:38 PM
A cell is not a person, at least not to a lot of people. Maybe to you, but the question is, why should pro-lifers decide for others?
Posted By: Hope816 Re: Life after conception - 04/26/07 02:31 AM
A cell is not a person....yet.That is why it is imortant for a woman to have an abortion asap. a babys heart begins to beat after only 2 weeks conception.

By the second trimester it IS A HUMAN BEING and abortions exept for special reasons should not be allowed then.

We had a case here 2 years ago where a woman was 30 weeks pregnant and she had an abortion just because the baby had dwarfism. How sick is that? The baby could have been born live and given to a loving home but instead she thought it would be better off dead.
