The world has people of different colors. If we take a ideal face and give different colors to it, which would you find most attractive?
White, yellow, wheatish, dark wheatish or black?
Which would you, and why?
I would love dark wheatish. Why?
beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder.
Somebody likes something, somebody likes something else.
Is that not the beauty of this world?
all of us are so different to each other.
Why does the colour matter? If you took an ideal face, wouldn't it be the features of the face that are ideal and not the colour?
For me it is not so much the skin color as it is the balance of the skin. I remember when I was a teenager I met this lovely young lady at a summer camp and she had the most perfect skin, not a sinlge blemish, discoloration, freckle, etc. on it! And this was without a dab of makeup! (Is that sickening or what!!!?)
Halle Berry's skin is like that, and while I do love the color of her skin, that kind of creamy coffee color, it is that smoothness that I truly envy!
I like the dark complexions as said aboce they seem so clear of blemishes and big brown eyes.

Even if you have an ideal face, the color surly matters. A blemish free face will be of course great. i initiated this discussion to discuss the concept of beauty in our minds. To discuss how all of us look at the same thing differently.
I have to agree with Bella Harmony - For me it's not so much the colour as it is the smootheness, healthiness, softness etc that I find attractive. I've never really considered a specific colour of skin to be more attractive than another. Each colour can be very beautiful.

You have no preference in colors?
I can't say that I would find brown more attractive than white, or visa versa, or any other shade. It depends on the particular person to me

Since it depends on the particular person to you, we are imagining an ideal face.
I've never really thought of it your way before.
Thanks for getting me thinkin!
For example, take your face. Now imagine different colors. which of them would you like?
well.... an awful lot of people love a suntan.....!
That means that they do not like their natural color?
Is the term white not wrong? Should not we call them- very fair?
As Alexandra pointed out - I'm all for a tan! I am fair (blond/blue eyes), and I think I look better with a little color in my skin. My husband is Italian decent and has a darker skintone than I do. His skin turns a beautiful rich tan in the sun. So I guess I would say my ideal would be wheatish. To me, it looks healthier (probably because too many people ask me if I feel well!).
I would probably prefer the middle, right between white and black.

"It is what it is"
more like brunette.
unwilling to extreme in white and black.
Does this discussion tell us anything?
but whiter skins are easily flattered by any color of clothing
I don't like my natural skin color, but that's because I'm extremely pale with no natural blush to my complexion. I always look sickly without makeup. The only exception is after a good workout, which sends some blood to my face!
So really, I don't like my complexion.
You do have to admit, though, that many people have personal preferences. Some are more attracted to blue eyed blondes, some love big brown eyes and chocolate skin tones.
If you read my article on
Global Beauty and follow the link to
Marquardt Beauty Analysis , you'll see that color is never mentioned as a factor in defining the ideal beauty.
Yes. Color is not mentioned in ideal beauty.
The texture of the skin, is really what makes it so beautiful to me, personally...
My children are biracial and have beautiful skin color
I've always thought biracial children (especially caucasian and African American) have the most beautiful skin. That "cafe au lait" color is just so flattering. I always picture Halle Berry (although, to be honest I don't know whether she is biracial or not...)
But back when I was a teen (once upon a time) I competed in the Miss Teen pageant. The girl I most remember from that was biracial - and not only was her skin color pretty, but her complexion was
flawless, even without makeup!
I've been jealous ever since.
I agree with Beautybasics that color is never
mentioned as a factor in defining the ideal beauty.
I think that the most important for me is healthy skin,
cheerful and smiling face.

I agree with this statement. When I'm attracted to someone I don't consciously consider the color of their skin. Looking back I like women from both ends of the spectrum from very pale porcelain to deep mahogany. As for men I guess I've always preferred tanned to deeper tones.
I can't pick a different color. I think that is limiting which I realize is what you are trying to do for discussions sake (the original question asker, not the quoter from above). All I can say for certainty is that I've never been partial to really pale faced men but that certainly wouldn't be my first thought when meeting someone.
It's an interesting question.
This thread is interesting. I didn't like the 3 posts promoting their products tho, is that ok in here? Kinda distracting but I'm new so maybe it's just me! Don't mean to complain or anything!!
I think the basis of this discussion is to find out if we like ourselves or not. What would you change if you could, so to speak. If you like, say, biracial skin, does that mean you would like that for your own skin? Can we expand this to other things like hair color & texture & eye color? That can be in the 'ideal' category too.
Love,
Reina
No, those are pretty blatant Reina. I've let the moderator know.
Going from the basis of changing ourselves I'd definitely have darker skin. I'm very pale and tend to reflect odd colors of my surroundings and clothing.
thanks for the notifications! i've taken care of it.
i do have to say that when it comes to skin color and attraction i don't think you can say one is better than the other...for example look at pale beuaties like Nicole Kidman, or Cameron Diaz, then we have darker skin in Nicole Ritchie, or Jessica Alba, then our dark skin lovelies like halle berry, Vivica Fox and Naomi Campbell.
I will say that there is not enough diversity that we see on television and film
I tend to have a very wide range of "looks" I can be drawn to. I like thin men, heavy men, you name it. So as far as facial color goes, I have dated men with gorgeous pale skin, with gorgeous super dark skin and everything in between. I agree with the person who said it's the healthy skin look that matters. If a face looks healthy, to me whatever the color is is immaterial. Now that being said it is very hard for pale skin to look healthy - often it looks sickly. So in that sense, skins that are medium-pale to rich black are better at healthy looking. But if someone was pale-ethereal that can be lovely looking too.
But I have seem super dark people who are simply gorgeous. I have seen that light-coffee color that is equally gorgeous. A "regular tan" can look superb. So I can't say that I am drawn to any one look. I love individuals and think a wide variety of individuals can be really attractive.
