Hey Sabira,

Have you ever listened to 4'33 by John Cage? What did you think? I think this piece changed my entire idea of what music really is. Curious to know your thoughts.

Hi Monica,

Thank you. I had not listened to that before. So I checked out an orchestral version on YouTube.

I think it is especially suited for people of subtle taste, true insight and discernment, sophisticates such as those who can perceive the Emperor's new clothes. ;-)

For somewhat more uptempo musical humor, you may enjoy this jam session - Bulbous Bouffant. (It is an animated version, but IMO it is more effective to listen to it with eyes closed.)

Cheers!

Me too! :-)

Then you may also like Foreign Man and Ethnic Folk Song

Watching 4'33, it was funny to see how restrained the audience was until the conductor turned the pages of the music score. Each time the page was turned, there was a chorus of coughs and rustling and murmurs.

Cheers!

Incredible. I studied music, and heard all about John Cage's 4"33, but that is the first time I've seen it performed. My son watched it with me, I've been telling him all about the prepared piano and we looked at the pictures on Google images.

I am glad Monica brought it to our attention.

It is never too early to become a zen master. :-)

How old is your son? Did he like it?

Peace!
