I am quite lucky because i live in a tropical country, my Philippines. Actually, all of my orchids are growing outdoors, most of them are in full sun.
I do, at least some of them go outside. I bring the ones that can take high light outside. It is a challenge to keep them partially shaded though, since I have no trees!
My orchids don't go outside because I live in an apartment. I might put them on the balcony when the weather gets warmer but I would be worried that they would blow off the balcony on a windy day!
My orchids live outside most of the time. When they bloom, they come inside. If we will get extremely cold temps, they come into the shelter of the patio or house...except for Cymbidiums, which are strictly outdoor plants. The smaller ones come indoors when blooming; the really big ones go into the front yard...
