Are old monies from europe before the euro came out worth anything? I have a pile of coinage from the 70s from days when my dad went traveling and came back with change for me.

I gave my old Europe coins to some Boy Scout who were doing the Coin Collecting Merit Badge.

I've been looking online for info about the different foreign coins - some have a precious metal value, and some aren't even worth their face value anymore. It's hard to find good information on non-american coinage, though.
