George Clooney and his wife Amal, who is a human rights attorney, met with German Chancellor Angela Merkel in Berlin on Feb. 12th. The forty minute meeting also included David Miliband, head of the International Rescue Committee. They discussed Germany's refugee policies, specifically the plight of Syrian refugees. In 2015, Germany accepted 1.1 million refugees, many from Syria. The Clooneys were expected to visit with refugees in Berlin, sometime during their stay. George Clooney's film "Hail, Caesar!" opened the Berlin Film Festival.
