My current favorite is Clinique's Happy Heart.
I must say that I am REALLLLLYYY happy that women have stopped bathing in the scent they wear. A woman almost killed me(Literally) when I was trapped in an elevator with her and Cinnabar. My nose and eyes swelled shut...

Liz Claiborne is out with a new perfume called Curve Crush.

I bought it a few weeks ago and absolutely love it! I even wrote a review for Amazon for this perfume. I bought my bottle at BonTon, but I wish I had knew it was available via Amazon...because Amazon has it $9 cheaper!

Roni, is Happy Heart a new scent? I have Clinique's Happy, but am not familiar with Happy Heart.

Cinnabar is certainly a strong scent, but Obsession and cheapo perfumes have got to be the worse when women bathe in them.
Posted By: Roni Re: FAVORITE PERFUME - 10/08/04 10:38 PM
I think Happy Heart was introduced last Xmas. I asked for it from santa and got a huge bottle of Happy instead; as santa has ADD! I just use them together. Happy Heart is a much lighter and somewhat sweeter scent.

Frankly, I am just allergic to something in the Cinnabar...Canoe, Tabu,. Chanel #5...all will affect me the same way. I have to try stuff on before I buy it. I will know within moments of smelling it as my nose slams shut and my eyes do too. It is not pretty. The last three fragrances all come from the same house(manufacturer?)

Hi, everybody

As for me, I have lots of favorites but for now the most favorite are

Dior's J'Adore
Orlane's Fleurs d'Orlane
Betty Barclay's Woman no.3
Givenchy's Very Irresistable

I also like all Oriflame's fragrances. They are nice and you feel like a rose when you're wearing them. Has anyone of you tried any of Oriflame's fragrances? I can attach photos of them if you're interested

See you all later

I like one from Burberry...it's in a pink bottle...I forget what it's called but something with the word "tender"...does anyone else know which one I mean??

And I agree about Happy from Clinique...that's a good one. I like really light fresh scents...not too floral or strong. Any good suggestions?
Posted By: Birdy31 Re: FAVORITE PERFUME - 01/13/05 07:06 AM
Hi, stephanie

yeah, i know which one you're talking about. you mean "Tender Touch" from Burberry. It's a cute bottle and the perfume is so soft.

well, as for the light fresh scents, why don't you try J'adore eau de toilette? or Betty Barclay's Woman no. 3. They are not too floral or strong at all. Like you, i like soft fragrances and I can't stand strong perfumes because my nose is allergic. There is also Amor Amor from Cacharel. Emmmm....I dunno if i remember anything else now, but try to look for Oriflame fragrances wherever you are because most of them are light and fresh as you requested. one of them is similar to the scent of wet grass, i adore it. it's called "Elvie".

I hope I have helped you with my modest information

See you all soon

Clinique's Happy is also my favourite. Although I can't stand the happy scented hand cream. Too strong.

I have found a great range of perfumes called Penhaligions. They are a company founded in the United Kingdom and have been going since 1870. My favourite frangrance is Artemisia. It has Jasmine, vanilla, Violet and nectarines with sandlewood, musk and amber. A very feminine perfume. I buy mine from richgiftsdirect.co.uk from their little shop. Great company great people. Worth a visit

I know its very 'old hat', but I've always loved Charlie by Revlon. I only wear it ocassionaly as I have 5 different ones that I rotate. It always draws comments from other women saying how beautiful it is.
Posted By: firefly Re: FAVORITE PERFUME - 06/12/05 03:25 AM
My fave is Bob Mackie. It came in bottles with bubbles on them, and was not out for very long. He then had a new fragrance with a similar name but not the fragrance. I finally discovered Spellbound by Estee Lauder, and I love that. I cannot tolerate most perfumes, but essential oils do not seem to bother me. When I am in hippie mode I put on a bit of patchouli. Couldn't stand it in high school but I like it now. Sparingly.

I love Angel by Thierry Mugler, and Wish by Chopard. Wish actually blends the best with me, I always receive compliments on it. It's very woodsy and spicy, with notes of patchouli, incense, sandalwood and amber. It also has hints of chocolate that I've noticed. I just love it!

Another good one is Addict by Dior, but I rarely wear it anymore.

I love L'eau Par by Kenzo. It's for men, but works well as a unisex fragrance...much like ckONE.

My favorite is Victoria's Secret's Halo (Part of their Angel) line. I like the lighter smelling perfumes.

What I would REALLY like to find is something that TRULY smells like honeysuckle. There are a lot of perfumes that advertise it, but I've got the real thing growing in my back yard - and nothing comes close!

I have very, very high acidic content in my skin... I can't wear base metal or electroplated jewelry, and most perfumes turn a funny scent after its applied to my skin.

There are only a couple that I can wear at all, even though on me they smell completely different than they do on anyone else. I also have problems choosing scents among the very, very few I can wear because I'm so picky. *grins* I don't like most floral scents, with a couple of exceptions. I don't like heavy or fruity scents. I tend to prefer earthy scents, musks, spicy scents, that sort of thing. These are the few that I've found that I like, and that when I wear I always get compliments on:

Coty Wild Musk is an old favorite, although I don't wear it too often anymore.

Opium, which I only kind of like so I don't wear it, is one.

The other two are by the same company, Guerlain, Paris...

One is Shalimar, which I stopped wearing because my hubby said he'd be reminded of his grandmother (she wore it exclusively). *grins* I have a small bottle still, and I put it on one day and he asked me what I had on because he liked it... I just smiled and told him Shalimar. That's when he realized that I'm not kidding... Nothing smells the same on me as it does on anyone else.

But by that time I'd discovered Samsara, also by Guerlain. Its got a light but spicy scent... I'm with Moe... I don't like the hand cream or the body wash, its too heavy. But Samsara has, for the most part, become my signature scent. The Guerlain saleslady loves to see me coming, she's fascinated by how different her company's scents smell on me (I can wear them all, although I don't like them all).

When I don't wear commercial perfumes, I tend to choose essential oils that I like and blend scents myself. MusicalMom, maybe you should try to find a honeysuckle essential oil... A few drops in an alcohol/distilled water mix should give you a nice light scent that smells like real honeysuckle. Put it in an atomizer or a small misting spray bottle, and voila! I make a patchouli and pine mix for my hubby, and I have a sandalwood and jasmine blend that I like a lot for myself.

Posted By: celtickitties Re: FAVORITE PERFUME - 09/10/05 07:11 AM
I wear Fendi , although it's harder to find. I can wear it to work (dental office) and it is understated and soft. The other one I like but don't have right now is Allure by Chanel. It's beautifully soft, lots of compliments with that one.

If you have a Whole Foods, they have some in the beauty/health section.

Most "New Age" shops have them... Places that sell incense and stuff like that usually have oils.

Two little things... True essential oils can't be worn directly on the skin... It either has to be diluted in a carrier oil (almond, grapeseed, mineral or some other light oil) or in an alcohol base. Which brings me to my second thing... Essential oils and perfume oils are not the same thing. Perfume oils are usually essential oils diluted in a carrier oil, but sometimes they are just really inferior product being passed off as essential oil.

That said, most of the stuff you find is pretty much what it says it is, though. One of the things I like best is that, for the most part, if an essential oil says "jasmine," it smells like jasmine... and they all mostly smell very similarly... Not a lot of disparity among the different companies. There's some, of course, but jasmine smells like jasmine no matter who makes the oil.

I used to use an online source, so if you are not able to find anything locally, let me know, I'll see if I can find the sites I used to use.

Chanel #19, but it makes me sneeze and the lotion causes me to break out in hives.

My own concoction, which is a knock-off of Chanel #19, doesn't quite smell the same, but has a lot of the same qualities. It is a blend of sandalwood, vetyver, oakmoss, jasmine grandiflorum, rose absolute, ylang-ylang, neroli, galbanum and bergamot. These are all the 'real deal' here, no fragrance oils, just 100% essential oils, concretes, attars, absolutes and infusions. It doesn't have the same staying power as synthetic perfumes, but it is gorgeous just the same.

Another is a custom perfume designed by Eleuria. There's a form on their website that asks questions to determine your scent preferences. Then at the end of the questionnaire, there's a blend recipe that they will make for you. If you're handy with essential oils and other natural aromatic materials, you can make it yourself. This blend consists of jasmine essence (styrax co-distilled with jasmine flowers), myrrh, rose otto, frankincense, bergamot, galbanum, tagettes, clove, petitgrain & oakmoss. Smells heavenly!

Ralph Lauren is my most favorite!
Posted By: JeannineEvelyn Re: FAVORITE PERFUME - 11/03/05 04:13 PM
I have two 'signature' scents, one for day-wear, one for evening.

I fell in love with Yves St. Laurant's Opium, from my first whiff of its exotic spiciness. With notes of tangerine, cloves, coriander, carnation, lily of the valley, plum, rose, myrrh, castoreum, cedarwood, sandalwood, opoponax, and pepper, its fragrance is warm, Oriental, sensual, sedutive. I'm convinced it's the sandalwood that makes it so incredible. Before its arrival on the fragrance scene, I had gone through a number of trials of colognes and perfumes, never finding one I really liked. Most women's scents are just too flowery-sweet, for me. Almost nauseatingly so. I use the Opium for evening wear, and just a touch is enough. When it dries on the skin, it has a very subtle, warm, more spicy than sweet, scent. My husband considers it one of the sexiest scents ever. I believe it was chosen by Allure magazine at one time, as one of the sexiest perfumes of all time.

I used to use a touch of Estee Lauder's Cinnabar, for my daytime scent, simply because it's lighter spiciness was Opium-like. I have lately begun wearing just a light spray of Moonlight Path, from Bath and Body, during the day. I like this scent very much. Just a hint of hyacinth, and lavendar, not too sweet. Perfect for summer wear, as well.

I have asthma so sometimes perfume bothers me.

However I have worn Ralph Lauren for women for more then 20 years. I also used to wear one by Yves Saint Laurent, the bottle was pink and black, it smelled like roses, I think it was just called YSL.

My Dad used to have a thing for perfume. When we would take him shopping, he would get lost in the perfume department and come out smelling like a French Whore. He loved to buy the women in his life perfume, unfortunately he also had to try them on so it was a LONG ride home from the mall afterward.

He was the one who got me the YSL that smelled like Roses. He loved to grow roses so I guess thats why he loved that perfume.

I do not care for strong scents or even wearing perfume. I prefer to use shower gel or body lotion. They are much more subtle.

Lovely by Sarah Jessica Parker is my favorite.

I love Calvin Klein Euphoria. But lately my pure essentials laundry detergent has been my perfume. It smells really good so I've been able to save my Calvin.

I recently fell in love with Stella by Stella McCartney....it lasts a really long time, also, which is unfortunately pretty rare for me.

I love LaVanilla, Pure Vanilla. It's made by a company called Vanilla Laboratories. It's smells just like vanilla pods, but with something else. There is suppose to be a hint of freshia and one or two other parts to the fragrance. It's suppose to be entirely natural, but it lasts all day. You can only get it from Sephora though. I just love it.

Sorry it's made by LaVanilla Laboratories not Vanilla Laboratories.

I like poison, but most of my absolute favorites are the ones the body sprays that come around each season. Like this winter, it is peppermint, gingerbread, and merry vanilla.

They smell so good. Then in the springtime I roll back around to raspberry, apple, cotton candy etc.

Men go crazy over this stuff because it makes you smell so edible. lol

Favorite perfumes:
From Mary Kay - Affection
From AVON - Imari
Gucci Rush
Casimir by Chapparal

Most perfumes do not smell right on me...so when I find a scent that I like, I tend to stick with them.

Always hunting.....

For the last year I've tried a number of different ones but they really didn't win my heart. I'm a Clinique Happy girl through and through.

Lovely by Sarah Jessica Parker is my favorite right now.

I am allergic to strong perfumes. There is one in particular, I think it is White Diamonds or Poison, that gives me watery eyes, burning sinuses, nose bleeds and asthma. I just use herbs for fragrances or citrus peels (rub them on my arms and neck) or the best I ever bought was a little piece of amber. I have had this amber for years and it never loses its fragrance. I just rub it a little on my wrists.

I commented about... oh, more a year and a half ago (!) -- that my favorite was Safari.

I think I've changed my mind.

I'm wearing Eternity Moment right now and I love it. It's a lot softer than Safari, with more of a floral/feminine scent.

Lanvin used to make a perfume called Pretext...I would give anything to smell that again it was pure 'Paris' and there has been nothing like it since.

Fresh and Summer-y...........I am going to run through a few that takes on all budgets. I also do not know your age, so forgive me if I go too old or too young.

My friend smells GREAT in "Goddess" by Avon

Have you tried Estee Lauders "Beyond Paradise Blue"?

How about the old standby - "Angel"?

"Tresor" by Lancome

"Light Blue" by Dolce and Gabbana

Those might start you off.

I would also like to recommend Belara by Mary Kay....possibly Journey, too.

AVON has a lot of perfumes with many layering possibilities. I only mentioned one with them.

The word perfume used today derives from the Latin per fumum, meaning "through smoke."
