Truly a horrifying experience for the whole family! I see kids running wild with no supervision in Wal-Mart all the time. I never gave thought before to how easy it would be for someone to just pick up one and walk out with them. (I was always just annoyed). But this shines a whole new light on things.

I agree completely. So scary and who would think someone would walk right up to the cart and take a child while mom is RIGHT there.

I have seen kids being carried out screaming and a few times have questioned if I should stop and ask the person if everything is alright. After all how easy to carry a very young nonverbal child out of the store as they scream and kick. Most people would simply think the kid was throwing a tantrum, right?

Boy, that is a tough one. I know I've carried mine out of the store screaming before, thinking I must look like an abusive mother. I remember seeing a preview for a family comedy (don't remember which one it was - only that it was on the BBC) and the father was trying to get the child to leave the store and the kid started yelling "stranger, stranger!" I thought it was funny at the time, but now I wonder.

I would be annoyed if stopped and asked if that was my child, but also grateful that someone was thinking of the child first.

I also have heard that comedian and it is funny in some ways, sadly the reality hits to close to home.

I am 67 .When I was a kid,so as to be controlled in stores,parents,would put some kind of strapped holder ,with a leash.
Then I found it ,awful.Will we have to go there,again? Many parents let their kids loose anywhere.

I am completely against leashes for kids.

I once saw a woman leave her young child behing at a movie theatre, she was angry with him and she just left him there! That woman and any other parents who do that should of never had any children to start with. Not only is it dangerous for children to be left unattended in public it can be a problem for the people who own the places where that happens (the kids brake things) and for the other people around (they make noise, throw things, etc).

For this story the mother is not at all to blame.

This was not the case for this family. The girl was securely in the shopping cart and the man walked up and took her out.

The video is worth watching. I am not a fan of leashes either...

I am always amazed at how many children are left unattended in cars, while parents run into the grocery store or let their young children go into public restrooms alone where most are isolated and out of sight. I am told by my daughter that my 15 year old son and his 7 year old sister are allowed to run around wal-mart while step mom and dad shop. And that the 7 year old is allowed to do that when he is not with her...
