Hello all,

There is much to say about the meanings of flowers in general but the Victorians thought that the beautiful Amaryllis flower stood for discovery and exploration. And this led to it becoming a symbol of success after a struggle. And no matter what happens in your gardens or your containers, it can be a struggle against all sorts of things to get the look you seek. 'Creativity problem-solving' a friend of mine calls it. Gardening is hard work!

The amaryllis is also a flower that means a job well done and is often given to people as a token of recognition of perseverance and final success. Sounds to me as if there is a strong argument to make it a symbol of achievement for Gardeners and Containers and other Creative People. What do you think?

Amaryllis ... could it a girl's name? Imbue her with these fine qualities? Mind you, they would probably end up calling the child Mary not so? Just musing.

I have an amarylis that was given to me Christmas 2021. I had hoped it would bloom again in 2022 but it has 4 leaves and that it is.
Hi Angie and all

You have just given me an idea for an article - Amaryllis are such regal and beautiful plants and they do bloom again and again. Coming up soon for sure!

Cheers for now

OK. I hope mine survives.
The article going up on Sunday 17 September is all about Amaryllis, so hopefully your questions will be answered Angie.

Thanks and cheers
