Open Office is an awesome alternative to Microsoft Office. However, one of the greatest advantage of Open Office is that you can create documents and save them in either a Word format or PDF (yes, you can make your own pdf files free!) In addition to numerous other benefits.
If you've never tried Open Office, I highly recommend it, and the program is entirely free!

Hi!

I'm using Open Office, and LOVE it!

Here is the link I used:

Open Office

From that page, you'll see links to answer your questions, and a download link as well.

It did take a while to download, but was worth it. And, it may have just been my computer. smile

Sorry--I just realized the link was already in this thread. What can I say...it's a Monday morning. wall

I've used Open Office for years on my home computer, it's great. And that's from a Microsoft Office person. What more can one say:)

I too use open office and I love it. smile Plus my kids do too, they can export their files to whatever microsoft program their teachers are using and then their teacher can access it or they can do their Power Point Presentation at school. Works like a charm!

Do you guys know if Open Office has a "track changes" feature? I do freelance copyediting and I have to use the track changes to mark my edits.

Hi Barbara!

I'm not sure if open office does, but I do think Google Docs has that feature.

Hope this helps! smile
