It is interesting to see the issue getting some attention in this part of the world. I couldn't get the link to work, you'll have to cut and paste. Isis, I used Google Translate to get the gist of the article (my Spanish is not quite at that level) and the funniest thing is that the article turned out to be about not wanting "buses" :-D

That made me laugh so much.

My comment is awaiting moderation (if my Spanish is correct on that one) but I wrote it in English, a bit ignorant I know but there's no way I could have written such technicalities in Spanish.

Ha ha! Here they say guagua a lot for babies, maybe in another country it mean a bus? Does anyone know how to fix the link? I have been meaning to comment too, but I have been too busy to organize my thoughts well.

no quiero tener hijos nunca

The above link is entitled Never Want to Have Children (I think, that's about as good as my Spanish can muster)

There you go Isis!

Repeating exactly what you have done works okay for me so it may just be your browser? I'm on Mozilla Firefox, latest version.

Thanks for that! I am using the latest Firefox too, so I am not sure what is the problem. I am able to link on other forums with no problem. Yeah, the title is "I never want to have children." You got it right. It looks like they published your comments, I saw one in English.

Guagua is a familiar word for bus in Cuba and some parts of Spain, as far as I know, lol. I am not familiar with Chilean Spanish, I found that guagua word for offspring really funny and kind of cute.

That must be why the online translator had problems, Solalux. I lived in Spain for a while, but never heard a bus called that. Maybe they do in other areas of the country than where I was. I haven't made it to Cuba yet, but I really want to go some day. For some reason, I could kind of imagine guagua with a Cuban accent being used to mean bus.

In Spain it is only used in the Canary Islands and, at least partly I think, in Andaluca, in the South. I haven't been to Cuba either, but I lived in Miami for three years, which is very similar, lol. Un saludo.

Ah, children and buses. You wait for one and three come along at once!

Oh, that's only triplets right? :-D

I have the channel from Chile and yes, guagua or guaguita means baby or toddler. It's funny because it took a while to realize they meant baby and not "bus"! Even now that I know what they mean, it still sounds weird!
