Well, I started off writing an article on breasts as a symbol in dreams and ended up climbing on my soapbox....I don't get to do that very often on the Dreams site

I thought y'all may enjoy it:

Dream Symbols - Breasts

It is funny that you should post an article about this Parthena because for the past 3 or 4 weeks I have been working on a collection of articles about plasic surgery here for the site. That is why I haven't posted anything recently because I am doing research on the most common types. Not that I am promoing plastic srgery but just to get some general information out there for anyone considering it.

I love the image of the Wildendorf Goddess. I have a shirt that says "I AM a Goddess...the Wildendorf" and it has a picture of Her on it. It amazes me how American society compared to many other societies are sooooo obsessed with breasts. Sure they are nice to look at, all women have them, but be thankful for what God(s) gave you.

I should have the artcles done sometime this weekend (crossing fingers).

Hi Jeannette,

Willie is my favorite goddess to sculpt - the fatter and fluffier and saggier the better! Very few of my girls are skinny. I strive to make them look like real women. I make large ones too and they freak people out when I take them to shows. That is so sad.

I'll keep an eye out for those articles and will add links to my article

Haha, my mom, friends and co-workers have told me for years that I am obsessed with breasts...mine in particular. Tis fortunate that I am so comfortable in my own skin seeing as it is my job to assist plus size women in being comfortable in theirs.

It took me about 40 years to be comfortable in my body. While I've never had a weight problem, I am straight up and down with the exception of a fat stomach that has bothered me my entire life. My own mother gave me a complex about it by constantly nagging me to suck it in. Over the years, people have actually asked if I was pregnant.

When I did exercise 6 days a week for 20 years, I never had the body I wanted. I learned in college that there is only 20 percent you can work with. 80 percent is genetic and you need to learn to live with it.

I found out about ten years ago it is caused by a severe spinal defect, which is why no amount of exercise ever helped - in fact, it made it bigger.

If I ever did consider plastic surgery, I would have a tummy tuck.

I lost half a cup size with each child but it's never bothered me. I have heard some women claim that larger breasts make their waists and stomachs look smaller and that may be true. The thought of having plastic gel bags inserted in my boobs is just not appealing to me so I doubt I'd ever have it done. I'd be more comfortable with having fat removed than having something put in.

I'm not sure what I think about altering our bodies with plastic surgery becoming the norm

I saw that show on MTV I think. She wanted to be in Playboy didn't she? They told her not to do it and she did anyway. We thought it was funny because they told her that she was too big for Playboy. I think plastic surgery is taken too lightly. We had a family friend that died from a stomach stapling. Shows like the one on MTV makes it more popular for younger kids. I think that is very sad.

That was the one who ended up with ugly, fake looking breasts. She had them re-done and still didn't make it.

I'm an A-cup girl from a family of C and D-cup women. My mom had the pleasure of two teenage daughters trying to shop for clothes, one complaining nothing fit her as she was so flat-chested and the other complaining her boobs were too big for everything. Either way, my sister and I both wore a lot of baggy sweaters.

Over time, I've learned that there is such a thing as "perfect mouthfuls" and I've got 'em. As I get older, more and more women tell me they are envious of my smaller breasts.

Rae,
I have always had the opposite problem of you, I have always had "big-uns" as Al Bundy would say LOL When I hit puberty, one day I was flat, 2 or 3 days later I was a C cup during my 8th and 9th grade in high school. NOw after having 2 kids, I teeter between a D and DD. I have started losing a good amount of weight and I stopped breast feeding so mine are slowing skrinking. Sometimes I am envious of women with smaller breasts but there are days that I wear a certain bra with a certain top, and even the women turn to look again LOL

When I was pregnant and when I used to have periods, the swelling made me uncomfortable and made me feel fat - so I had no problem with losing a bit with each of my sons. I'm a 36A because I have a big, "swimmer's" back and you wouldn't believe how many manufacturers don't even make that size!

They were all breast-fed, so they went for a good cause - and none of my boys seem to be 'boob' men. My oldest seems to like girls who are larger in general and I'm really pleased to see that!

You can feed quite a few hungry people for the price of implants. My daughter's scout leader got them and her nipples ended up crooked. My sisters friend got them (her stepdad paid for them) and a few years later her breasts could not resist the pull of gravity but the implants stayed put. That looked strange. I love my 34A's and my husband has never complained.

Firefly,
I have seen pictures on the net about stuff like this wile doing research for my article about breast "enhancement' (notice I out that word in quotes LOL) I think the only surgery that I would have done to my breasts is a lift because I have breastfed 2 kids (1 for a little over a year and my 2 year old just weaned herself) and for some reason, the women in my family who breastfeed get the droppy breast thing going on. The implant surgery just seems like to big of a risk to me. Putting a foreign object in your body like that is just to unnatural to me.

Victoria's Secret is the only place I fit a 36A. Every else I wear a 34A. At first, I thought "allright! My boobs have grown for no reason, and my hips and stomach have not". I thought for a moment, and realized they must size their bras differently, thus giving us the opportunity to brag about our larger bra size, and be telling the truth. If I told any of my friends I wore a 36A, they would look me in the eye, look me in the chest, and laugh. Anyway, VS carries 36A. I am not sure about 38A.

Ahh... Yeah, the whole shopping for clothes dealy... so not cool....
I'm a decent sized girl. Little chubby, according to the Body Mass Indicator scale, and I'm not as healthy as I could be. For the most part, though, I love me. I'll always have that lower belly pouch, and the hips that seem to make Deanna Troi's from Star Trek seem small, but ya know what, I like 'em
My breasts though are too big for my liking. I'm a D cup, on a 5'3''/ 145lbs frame. They're too big for me. I find they don't do anything to make my waist look smaller, they just make me feel like a milk cow. =\ They're too big for anything to fit right, and the clothes that do fit 'em make me look 10lbs heavier. I'm 2 steps from considering just ducttaping them down =\

Ive been around for a few years now, (54), and Ive seen trends come and go, concerning the to die for perfect breast size. I still recall dear Twiggys appearance, on the fashion scene, in the sixties. Gone, then, was the busty look so popular in the fifties. How go the fashion, film, television, and magazine images projected to the masses, so goes the prevailing look, for the general public.

Cosmetic surgery has become BIG business. Engineered marketing, aided by celebrities admitting to having this or that enhancing procedure done, led to the average Jane Doe realizing she too, could have the present look. Why it was simply a matter of whipping out the old credit card, and voila! Big breasts in? She had them! The new seasons fashions designed for the less busty? Simple, minimize those boobies! Mature woman suffering from the droops? Well, get those puppies lifted! Want to get rid of extra fat, showing up on various body parts? Forget a healthy diet, forget ghastly exercisemerely pop in to your local cosmetic surgeon, and have it all sucked out! Gather together a group of teenage girls, ask them what is their one hearts desire, and Id bet the majority would answer some sort of cosmetic surgery enhancement.

In my early teens, I once admitted to an Aunt that I wished I was a bit heavier, top-side. I remember her shaking her head in the negative, and stating, Oh, hon, no! Why, dont you realize, youre built to last! Thanks to that statement, I happily accepted my individual look. And now, in my more mature years, I am mightily grateful for my breast size.

I guess no-one's ever happy with what they've got are they! I have very large breasts which cause so many problems for me. I so envy those of you who complain yours are too small. I can't wear any tops other than big baggy ones and even they don't hide my chest. It's as though I stand behind them as everyone looks at them before me and they are so prominent there's nothing I can do about it.

I guess we all have to live with what we've given.

Your aunt was wise.

LOL, Jeanette Norman, about the Wildendorf Goddess t-shirt you mentioned! On a similar note - I hosted a Body Image tele-call in early Sept. and told my listeners that when I hear the phrase "body image" I always think of that saying: "I am in shape - round is a shape!".

Now I'm heading to Parthena's dream site, which I hadn't known existed - can't wait to see it!
