The first lambs of 2006 are here! You can see them here:
http://www.bellaonline.com/articles/art20999.aspThey are, naturally, completely adorable and in need of names to suit them. I'm hoping for some help from the Bella Online readers! Post your names here and the winner will received a bookmark made from some of my handsqun Border Leicester wool. Let me hear your best!
Pegg
How about Finola and Gwendolyn? (They both mean fair-haired or light-haired in Gaelic)
How precious!
How about any two of these:
Una (means lamb)
Eunice (means good victory)
Eudora (good gift)
Eugenie (well-born)
and they all sound like "ewe".
Or, in keeping with the Mom's "L" name:
Lucinda (means light) and Lily (the flower).
They are beautiful.
How about Bella (for Bellaonline) and Betty Lou (for LouAnn)?
Two of my favorite border leicester's are Isabelle and Chloe, on a dear friend's farm in southwestern Illinois. Both have been good mothers and produce looooooooovvvvveeelllyy wool. Not to mention they were both cute as lambs, too! *pst* not sure how this got linked to Judith's post her name suggestions are also adorable ~ [color:"blue"] [/color]
When the forums weren't working, I got a couple of suggestion via e-mail so I'll post them here:
"I just am not computer-literate enough to navigate all those links, etc. but I would love to make a suggestion for the new lambs's name. How about Mariah and Martina (of course, after me)." from Martine Bouffard
"can't get thru to the forum for the name suggestions for the new lambs..so here is my entry........."WENDY AND SNOWY"...TO GO ALONG WITH OUR WONDERFUL WINTERY WEATHER IN mICHIGAN" Knittinannie
How about Shari (Shari Lewis with Lambchop) and Mary (she had a little lamb!)
Bible names: Rachel (means "ewe" in Hebrew) had a sister Leah.
Movie option: Jodi and Julianna, the two actresses who played Agent Clarice Starling in the Silence of the Lambs, and the sequel Hannibal.
My Vote is to name them after their beautiful mom LouAnn and Bella.
Lolabelle and Annabelle, or you could spell it Loulabelle and Annabelle.
How about Itsy and Bitsy?
They are so cute! How about Layla and Kayla.
They *are* cute! I didn't think I would come up with any names, but when I saw the pictures, "Pinky" and "Winky" popped into my mind. I like all the other names you've been given, too, glad I don't have to decide which names to use! LOL
The winner of the Name Those Lambs Contest is Martine Bouffard with the names Mariah and Martina. Congratulations Martine! She was very original since she wanted these sweet little lambs named after her. What a cute idea! A handspun, handwoven bookmark will be in the mail to her shortly.
Just to let everyone know, Mariah and Martina went to a good home a couple of weeks ago. They were purchased together by an 11 year old 4-H girl who plans to show them at the county fair and keep them for their fiber. Her mother is a handspinner and she is learning to knit. And so we pass on the touch to another generation
