We can stay stuck in old habit patterns, and held back by our beliefs that we are not good enough or enough of anything to make a difference. However, small changes in our thoughts and habits can make big changes in our life.

Why Are We So Reluctant To Change

Easier said then done (For me anyway)
Being agoraphobic doesn't give me many ways to change
Even my cat knows what i'm going to do next
I don't have a life (Just saying)

It is so easy to get used to our routine that the mere thought of changing can be quite scary. It is so much easier to stay in our current condition, no matter how unhappy we are, and say "well someday I plan to X." That's far safer than actually doing X.

I think a key is to take a small step each day. Don't put it off. Don't talk about doing it tomorrow. Just do something today. Do something the next day. Get that progress going.

We all have our challenges. They are just one part of who we are, and they, like our brains, are able to be changed.
Just finished reading Steven Pressfield's book "The War of Art" which addresses this topic. He talks about how to beat Resistance - that inner critic or negative force that stops people in their tracks. His suggestions are great for creative work but also apply to any new endeavor you might be considering.

I've read that one too a few months ago - I think I had issues with him saying either you're creative or you're not. I am president of my local art organization and I feel strongly that every person has creativity which can be nurtured. It's all a matter of releasing the walls which often are created in childhood. So while I do recommend people read it, I also think it could use a revision with more compassion :).
