I couldn't really find a place for this question that didn't seem biased - so I am putting it here.

If you want sunshine for a vacation and you only have a choice of the 50 states to go - what state do you want to get your sunshine in?

My vote, of course, is Florida..........

definitely Hawaii..... nice and warm
California
Hawaii sounds nice, i'll go with that also
This might be a strange answer, but I've found that Colorado is extremely sunny. Maybe even disturbingly so. smile (I'm from New England, as a point of comparison.)

According to the National Weather Service, the sunniest state is Arizona, followed by California, Nevada, New Mexico and Texas. So if you're talking in terms of beaches and suntans, California might be the best place to go.
I would have to say Hawaii but is Puerto Rico an option? It is not one of the 50 states but it is a territory of the US - if I could I would go there.
If you want something not so traditional, try Alaska - "Land of the Midnight Sun" during the month of June. During the height of summer - June 21st is the "longest" day of the year - the sun never sets. Summer, especially the months of June and July, are the best months to be in Alaska.
Thnaks for telling me - someday I want to see your state. June and July - huh?
Well, June and July are the sunniest, but they are also the busiest and most expensive because it's "tourist season." August and September are less busy and expensive but not quite as sunny and warm. Still beautiful though. Alaska is a big state with lots of different activities. You are bound to find something you enjoy depending on your interests. I would definitely recommend visiting; for those of us that live here, it's great except that the winters are very loooooong smile.
My picks are California, Florida and Hawaii smile
Hi,
Florida is a good choice so is Arizona.

Alaska is a great choice for summer. I really felt energized by the long days. In fact, we went for a helicopter ride at 10 pm after dinner and it was still very bright outside.

Colorado. Denver has over 300 days of sunshine a year! Even though the winters can get cold, it's really nice to have the sun come out and warm things up.
California! There are usually only two seasons there, summer and winter and the winters are short. But, believe it or not, although Washington has a lot of rain (not as much as everyone thinks), and the summers are short, we used to sit outside till 10PM or so in the summers and it would still be quite light outside. The farther north you live, the longer the days are.
Hawaii!!!

We were stationed there several years ago, and even in winter it is wonderful. It does rain more in the winter than other months, but the showers tend to be short and regular, rather than days and days of gloom.

And it is so temperate. There's not that much difference between temp in summer and winter, and the summer's aren't killer like down here in the south (thanks to the lovely ocean breeze.)
