Hi! Can you believe we are almost at the end of September?
This week we are talking about Homecoming on the Teen Site.
And I have a secret to share with you -

It's perfectly okay to celebrate and enjoy your school's Homecoming without a date. Did you just gasp? Yes, it's fun to go as a couple with a friend, or that special someone, but you may also choose to go with a group of friends.

I wish a happy and safe Homecoming to those of you are attending this year!

Homecoming Celebrations and Conversations

I am a proud graduate of Westland High School in Galloway, Ohio. I think about my high school days now and again, and keep up with several of my former classmates. Via Facebook and visits, we’ve truly shared the best and worst times of our post high school lives. As I prepared to write this week's article, I reflected on the high school days of my own father. He was a graduate of South High School, located on the South side of Columbus, in the Thurman Square community. I live across the street from Dad’s high school and have walked every inch of it, listening for his words of advice in my head and heart. He died when I was barely into my twenties and never knew that I achieved my dream of writing and accomplished another of illustrating. As I walked down our stairs this morning, I paused at the window to look across at his old high school. I felt him and at the moment knew that he indeed knows about my writing and so much more! Enjoy this week’s article about Homecoming.

Oh, and if you are an alumni and attend your school's Homecoming, don't be surprised if a current student approaches you to talk. I told them to do that!

I never went to a homecoming At the time, that choice wasn't a big deal, but now I wish I would have.

I was asking my son about the homecoming celebration where he goes to college - I bet it will be a big deal!

Deanna - I have never been to a college Homecoming! Tell him to take pictures for you. Next month, the high school across the street will have their parade and games. I love the parade! And they hand out candy!!!!!!!

I keep asking my boy for pictures of college life!! The one and only picture I have yet to see is his drum practice pad sitting on his bed. Hmph!
