The 2021 Cannes Film Festival wrapped up yesterday, July 17th, with an awards ceremony that included Jury President Spike Lee announcing the top prize winner prematurely. The Palme d'Or went to "Titane", directed and co-written by Julia Ducournau. She is the second female filmmaker to win the highest honor at Cannes (Jane Campion being the first with "The Piano"). "Titane", an unconventional flick to put it mildly (check out the trailer and reviews), will be released in the US later this year.

Filmmaker Antoneta Alamat Kusijanovic won the Camera d'Or for her first feature film, "Murina".
