Cinematographer Michael Chapman passed away on Sunday. He was 84 years old. Chapman's many credits include "The Fugitive" (1993) and "Raging Bull" (1980), both of which earned him Oscar nominations. I love the way he photographed the city of Chicago in "The Fugitive" and in fact, Chapman was known as a "poet of the streets". Chapman felt that actors were his most important subject, however. He had this to say: "The thing that really touches me is acting. I believe cinematography is much closer to acting than most people realize. I used to think of actors as the people who never hit the mark, or were late, or angry. Later, I became more appreciative and empathetic."
