Mads Mikkelsen's next project is a film directed by Alexander Payne ("Nebraska", "Sideways"). Mikkelsen plays a Danish journalist on an American road-trip, accompanied by his teenage daughter. The script is by Norwegian writer Erland Loe. Netflix is financing and releasing the film, which I hope will be better than the soulless "Polar", released by Netflix in 2019.

Mikkelsen is currently filming "Druk", a film which reunites him with "The Hunt" director Thomas Vinterberg. Mikkelsen played a kindergarten teacher in "The Hunt" and again is cast as a teacher in "Druk", this time working in a high school. "Druk" is a Danish production and is expected to be released in 2020.
Update: Unfortunately, the Alexander Payne/Mads Mikkelsen film has been scrapped. The movie was based on the real-life experiences of Norwegian writer Karl Ove Knausgard, who decided not to give up the rights to his story.

The production of "Druk" is moving along, however. IMDb has posted a still from the film on its site.
