Trudie Styler will be directing her first feature film, "Freak Show", based on the best-selling novel by James St. James. Styler will also be producing the film. Bette Midler and AnnaSophia Robb have already been cast, but the lead actor has not yet been named. The main character, Billy Bloom, is a cross-dressing high school student who resists peer pressure and decides to run for homecoming queen. Filming is set to begin at the end of the month.
Update: IFC Films will be distributing "Freak Show" in the US. Look for it in early 2018. The cast includes Laverne Cox, Alex Lawther, and Ian Nelson. Trudie Styler's production company, Maven, was responsible for "American Honey" and focuses on projects that are written/directed/produced by women.
