I am pretty much confused with this perfect ending thing. And also a little angry, because when I was in Ch. 1 I had the bad idea of checking first the missions without exploring so it took me straight to Ch.2 after a long play. Obviously only later I discovered that I missed so much.

Anyhow, I am in Ch. 5, I do not know how I got all finished Episodes as Complete but 1 (Moonflow). Still I have to finish Djose, the Chocobos path(no way I could ever guess I had to raise the Chocobos, send them around and whatever I will have to do, I don't want to check the guides too much), Bevelle (I am on floor 34), the PR [censored] (guys, is this a game or a job???) and whatever else. I am at 75%, with around level 70-72 for the girls, and I keep fighting and fighting and fighting, still without getting a single 9999 shot and being required of something like 17000 exp to level up. Is this game ever ending? I got all dress spheres but Mascot, which I can dream to get only in Game plus. My question is, once I finish it how in Spira can I know where I missed a bloody 0.2% or 0.6%? Do they accumulate the % or one may miss for ten games plus in a row the same stupid detail? I don't know, I agree with Christina, this game is not for me. I hate how I get lost guessing what I have to do. Too confusing.

Well, your probably not going to like my answer.

Finish the game, there's not much chance of you getting the Mascot Dress-Sphere this game. In most cases you can get an Episode Complete if you visit a location in every chapter and talk to the key person there, and don't mess up at the Moonflow or the Calm Lands, but it sounds like you've already went on.

Follow a completion Guide in the next.

The publicity campaigne must be started in Ch3.
There is not enought points to get to 400 in Ch5.

And your not going to see 9999 hits very often. Even at high levels, this game is way different from FFX. But so are the fiends.

if ur tryin to get 100% w/o a guide ne time through good luck cuz its rly hard....ur best bet it to jus visit each location in each chapter once....but go to the hotspots last cuz if u got from hotspot to hotspot ull go throught the chapter nd miss even more....nd probally buy the end of ur game ull have missed a lil more then .2% here nd there....good luck tho

we have the same situation the first time I finished X2

just what Jesilee said, follow a completion guide next time you played FFX2.

and you can't really get a 9999 hit in this game for this is really different

there is a possibility that you can get 9999, but not too often unlike in FFX

i had the same problem, so i decided to beat the game and start over. i finished the first game with like 65% and now im working on the second one

yup, me n gerb didn't use a guide for the 1st time we played and we got 70 sumthing % i played it on my own but using a 100% completion guide n i got 100%.
even with level 99 girls, dark knight or mascot equipped with strength increasing accessories i still didn't hit 9'999  i only got 9'999 hit when i equipped one girl with cat-nip at low health, but thats cheating

For Djose:

YOU ONLY HAVE TO FIGHT THIS THING TWICE IN YOUR 100% GAME, Once before All Lvl 5's & again at ALL LVL 5'S.

If you choose to, you may fight it more, but You MUST have a manual to fight it & there are only 5 in the game.

To raise the points on the Experiment you must dig up parts.
You can check on the parts in the room at djose to the right. The tutorial (from FFX) looking thing. (Choose display parts...)

Type
Z = 5 points
S = 3 points
A = 1 point.
If you dig up an Attack Assembly A part,
it will be worth 1 point toward attack.

If you dig up a Defense Assembly S part,
it will be worth 3 points towards defense, because the S' are worth 3 points.

If you dig up a Special Assembly Z part,
it will be worh 5 points towards Special.

Etc, Etc...

EACH PART: Defense, Attack, & Special MUST have enough parts to equal 38 points to be at Level 5.

There are only 5 available manuals, and the last is a pain to get too.
I recommend you at least save the 4th one for when your ready to finish this thing.

Manual locations:
1. The guy just outside the steps wants a password. MARNELA.
2. Speak to man in the left room inside the temple.
3. 3 Monkey's jumping up & down just outside the temple. When all 3 monkeys jump at the exact same time & hit the X. (This one is a bit of a pain too.)
4. At the exit of Mi'hen (just before Mushroom Rock Road) try to talk to the machina & obtain the manual.
5. Located in the secret dungeon of the Calm Lands Chocobo Ranch.

Depending on Your levels, this may be a little tough, so just be sure to save outside.

And the Chocobo Ranch.

Best Locations For Chocobos to Go

Timid: Kilika, Thunder Plains, & Bikanel
Normal : Besaid, Moonflow, & Macalania
Bold: Djose, Calm Lands

Remember to Restore Heart before sending a chocobo to a new location.

You must send out 3 Level 1 Chocobos & have them all come back.
Then 3 Level 2's.
Then 3 Level 3's.
Then 3 Level 4's
Then 3 Level 5's.

You need to have all three come back each time.

On average it will take them 8 random battles for the chocobos to come back.

(This is a good time to work on those floors in Bevelle Dungeon)

BEFORE SPEAKING WITH CLASKO, Save, If a Chocobo Runs away RE-SET,
Exit the ranch, have one more battle, and save again,
This usually corrects the running away problem.

After All 15 have come back, you need to make sure you have 4 lvl 5 chocobos.
(You may need to release a couple so that you can get higher lvl chocobos)

After FINALLY getting 4 lvl 5 chocobos, send them out.
Have your appr. 8 battles & return.

After a short scene you'll now be able to enter this annoying dungeon.

The idea is to get all 5 walls against the left area raised, do this by walking in FRONT of it.
(I suggest a Charm Bangle - cause I really don't like this place)

Eventually you will run into a boss.
After All walls have been raised, and the boss has been fought,
I believe it's the middle wall will be raised.

(Also the Ap Egg is in here inside a chest)

After finding the chocobo, Episode Complete For the Dungeon, NOT THE CALM LANDS.

Well, ok, I've got eventually the girls all to LVL 99. 3 Lady Luck (EXP x 2), with one equipping the Berserker abilities to get a rid of the dark and blue ugly daemon beasts when fighting in the Farplane, job done in a couple of hours starting from level 80 (getting a good amount of dark matter and Gils as well).

Thanks for the info about Djose, well, I got Splitfinity guides (how in purgatory does that guy manage to get such details? Does he have a PS2 debugger??), so I've got the first 4 manuals. As well as for the Chocobo thing, I hoped just keeping sending chocobos that would unlock the hidden path, but doesn't seem to be the case. Again, does it make sense that we need to check in the Internet to have the solutions? A very complicated puzzle would be much more intriguing. Anyhow.

At LVL 99, in Besaid Lady Luck still manages to do some 9999 hits just mugging or with pilfer gil. That must have something to do with the defense of the fiends. HP still is just ridicolous. Around 2200 for Lady Luck, 5000 for Berserker? That is not a problem at all with any regular fiend. But what about those ugly beasts in Bevelle floors (Via Infinito? The Italian one doesn't translate the names correctly!!)? Like Mega Tomberry, the "jumping drakes" and maybe more? If one gets caught by them, end of story. Oh, you mean don't get caught unless you have the right Accessories?

Other thing: I started the "tricks" to get more AP in a battle a little too late, maybe, but still I have the chemist (just ONE) that misses the 700 point for the last healing object. Each girl only have 3 or 4 dress spheres completed (and different ones). Is there any way to get AP fast? Like in FFX, against Don Tomberry, that was cool. I would like to raise the 3 special dress spheres now (I used them just a couple of times), and leave the others to Game Plus (which I want to start ASAP, at least I know what I am looking for, now).

I know, they are a lot of questions. I must say that at the end the game is not that bad (well, give us back Uematsu music, *please*!!), but sure FFX-2 is not something I will play again after the 100% completion. Not the same story for FFX, which I just loved, I consider it a Masterpiece.

theres a special strategy for the Ranch, but it annoyed me so much i'd rather not repeat it  but the AP Egg u get in here will help u in getting loaaaads of AP for whoever is equipped to it. theres also a GGrid with double exp and ap i think u get it from inside the cactuar cave thingy in Bikenel.

and in Via Infinito u can avoid every single one of the nasty dragons and Mega-Tonberrys u just have to find a way around them
for example: theres a dragon stright in front of u in a ditch in the floor. instead turn left and activate the ledge thing and then jumping blocks will appear above the dragons head! most of the others are simply just stepping round them

and ur not the only one who wants good old Nobou back on the music

Dark Matter already mentioned this, but here it is for both.

How to Avoid Red Dragons & Mega-Tonberries:
(Actually Elder Drake, but I prefer Red Dragon.)

Save yourself time by always checking to the left or behind you when you first enter a new floor.

Red Dragons:

When the Red Dragon is in the middle of the floor, head to the left and jump on the raised stone to activate two jumping stones over the dragon.

When he's jumping out of the wall, wait for him to jump back in then run, sometimes he'll be in two places on one floor, just wait for him again.

If you have Cat Nip, (which you get for defeating the Black Element at 40), equip it in case of emergency and remember who has it. If you end up having to fight one of these things, get that girl yellow, then have her use gems to do 9999 damage - Or use a gunner with trigger happy lvl 3. (Just don't use fire gems against the red dragon - you'd heal it.)

Also you'll start running into Mega-Tonberrys, really - really difficult to live through. Avoid whenever possible.

Mega Tonberries:

If your on the floor where he's in the section the to the right, stay as far to the left as you can and walk right past him.

If your on the floor where he's in the middle thing and you had to jump backwards, Then after the little tonberry fight the wall behind you raises and the lift disappears. CAREFULLY walk up that wall, and jump to the step against the wall. If you miss or jump to far you'll have to fight it, if not then you won't. You'll be able to go to the next floor by going to the left after climbing back over the wall.

If your on the floor where you had to walk up a narrow path and it looks like he's waiting there for you, wait for him to turn around and then continue to the left under the bridge, (NOT past the Mega-Tonberry). At the end of this floor there are 3 tonberries, the Mega in the middle and the two little one's on each end. Fight the little tonberries on the end and then the Mega-Tonberry in the middle one will be gone, giving you the exit to the next floor.

If your on the floor where all you see are Tonberrys, step lightly -(around them)! If you run into one, you will have to fight it AND the Mega-Tonberry, You need to step on the raised stones at the edges and find the one that will give you the exit to the next floor.

Be sure to have Cat Nip equiped at ALL TIMES in case of an accident.

And as I mentioned above in the Chocobo Ranch part.

You have to send out
3 Lvl 1 chocobos, 3 lvl 2's, 3 lvl 4's,
and 3 lvl 5's.

Then ALL 4 chocorunners Must be at Lvl 5.
Posted By: Fusion Re: FFX-2 perfect ending? - 04/28/04 08:11 PM
And one more thing, after you finish this game, be sure to switch sides in the beginning of Ch2 in your next game. That's worth 1%, plus a few extra events that may help you get closer to the 100%.

Thanks again, everyone.
yes, I unlocked the Ranch path. Fortunately one just needs to send any 3 chocobos, raising the level from 1 to 5. I had plenty, and 4 of them were already at LVL 5, then I chose each time 3 chocobos at the right level (and raising some if I did not have enough at that level).

Talking about Red Dragon and Master Tonberry, are you really able to defeat them?? They just kill me. All right, I did not try too much, they are too scary :-)Maybe I'll try your suggestion for fun.

As for the EXP and AP x 2 GG, I am afraid I missed it, and the dungeon in Bikanel is locked again. I am using the EGG acc. and Chemist now is eventually completed. Well, it was, then I got Ultima weapon in the ranch and it killed me just before I was going to sleep. Typical. I was raising white mages as well, go imagine the power. Time to switch, a couple of damages to the fiend, chemist dead and then end of story. Well, as I said it is more fun now. At least some fiends are more challenging. otherwise I use the memory cursor and I keep X pressed. Not exactly what I consider exciting.
