am i right mavis?

if you guys have problem with the talons of your pet... putting sandpaper on their perches is not the answer... you got lots of disavantages on it... first of all... it can damage the sole of your pet... so please... take good care of it... you can find some talon cutter on a market... and cut it on your own...
Yes - you are right. Those really do nothing to keep the nails trim and are extremely hard on the bottom of their feet. Natural tree branches are much easier on their feet and do help keep the nails trim.
hope birdman could read this... cuz he's planning to put some sandpaper on the perches of his keets... he will just torture his birds, right?

hope you could read this man! before its too late...
i read it before i got sandpaper perches.i got him a toy in stead.my budgies vet said try cliping the tips only and make sure you dont clip the red part.
Thats right - just take a tiny bit off the tips. You can use regular human nail clippers - thats what I use for all my small birds when they need their nails clipped.
yeah right... can we use nail file too? or just nail clippers...?
You can use a nail file or emery board, but it usually isn't necessary with the smaller birds. With my African Grey Parrot I'll sometimes use a file because the cut ends are sharp.

I cut too deeply the first time and I agonised over the way Tinkerbell bled.

Since then, I found it much simpler and less agonising not to cut the claws and let myself bled :-)

Shanlung
that hurts... why did you let urself bleed?
Tinkerbell claws remained uncut and they were sharp!

Read one of such an episode.
