every time my budgie hears a airplane passing by he goes nuts!!!!!!! he chirps like crazy i would really apriciate an explanation

maybe it looks like a bird to him... though... and he wants to go fly with it... what do you think?

Another thing to remember is that smaller birds are often prey for larger birds. It may think the airplane is a predator. Does it act frightened and is chirping to warn of danger? Or is it excited and interested in joining the 'flock'?

Two of my conures (1 Sun & 1 Nanday) zoom through the kitchen, living room, my husband's office, and pantry (all are connected in a sort of circle). It is rather thrilling to see them do their precision flying together. It also makes people duck because they don't have the confidence that the conures are *precision* flying (and won't hit their head).

My male Scarlet Macaw has been exercising his wings (he was never allowed to fly at his old home for 20-some years) and been showing signs he's ready to try flying around the house. I'm a little nervous about that because his wingspan is so large. I've been trying to get all the breakables in cabinets - just in case .... But yes, it will be quite thrilling should he decide to join my crazy conures flying around the house.

I'm always afraid of someone slipping out because I'm certain despite their love for me the thrill of flying with a large flock is enticing. When they tire they won't know their way home and would be lost forever. So ...flying with an outside flock would NOT be exciting!!

thats what i called... living in an aviary... cuz u got lots of pet birds inside ur house... and they're free to fly inside, right?

Sssshh don't tell my husband we live in an aviary! He already thinks I spoil them too much.

Everyone has a cage or shares one with their mate/companion that they can retreat to whenever they want privacy/peace/time out. The juveniles are locked in at night to protect them (I have cats that prowl the house at night and although they wouldn't harm the birds it might startle them too much). The Scarlets have a cage but it has no door and no floor so theoretically they could wander the house at will - although I do shut the door to the big bird room at night to discourage that. It's a bit of a long story, but the "cage" gives them security about keeping others out rather than keeping the Scarlets in.

I love having them fly around and joining me when THEY want to hang out instead of building a schedule around spending time with them. I'm quite lucky to be home all day (working) so I can do that.

you should try feeding ur bird fiesta birdseeds its for lots of kinds of birds cockatoos,budgies,finches,canaries.it has lettuce and spinach leaves in it and rice so it prvents malnutrition.
