In my recent article - http://www.bellaonline.com/articles/art14878.asp - I discuss this season's new trend toward jewelry fashions of the 1940s.

Many of these designs incorporate lots of flashy, sparkly glass rhinestones.

I've noticed that rhinestones have never been extremely popular in my neck of the woods, Northern California. However, sparkly, glitzy brooches and parures (matching jewelry sets including a necklace, bracelet, earrings and often a brooch) have, I believe, always had a following in other parts of the U.S.

What is your experience with this? How many rhinestones do you see shining off the sweaters, lapels, and hats of your friends and neighbors? Where do you live?

Most importantly, what are your thoughts about the new trend? Are you tempted to add a glitzy rhinestone brooch to your skirt, handbag, or collar this season - or do you find them a little too-too shiny . . . ?

Give us your thoughts!

I love 1940's style glam jewelry!! When i get dressed up i love wearing rhinestones and shiny, glittery jewelry. I feel so beautiful and feminine wearing it. <img src="/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />
Woo-hoo! Thanks for posting, Jasmine!!
I myself love that era both in jewelery(the glitzier the better)and in music I always say it's an era when they had to know how to sing and play an instrument!!
