Rita Antoinette Rizzo was born on April 20, 1923. She became a Poor Clare nun in 1945. After a few years, she would start her own religious community in Alabama. In the 1970s, she started taping a radio show and then she published a book. Her life changed when she visited a television studio in Chicago. Against all odds, she started the global Catholic television and radio network known as EWTN. Her name was Mother Angelica.
