My daughter asked me if I had taken down the lights and put the tree away. No, I didn't. The Christmas season ends with the Baptism of the Lord which is the upcoming Sunday. I'll eventually take the lights down and put Frosty the Snowman away but I may do like I did last year. I left my nutcrackers and one Nativity out all year. One thing for sure, I had a head start in 2019.

I haven't taken our Christmas stockings or my little collections of angels and snowmen down yet. They look pretty, and I won't see them again for nearly a year. What's the rush? :)

Hi Deb, I believe it was originally for religious reasons that people take them down on 6th Jan which is the Twelfth Night, also known as Epiphany Eve. In the UK it's considered bad luck to leave them up after 6th Jan, but there are also a few people who leave them up 365 days of the year! Joy

I never did take down my Christmas tree, Nativities, and nutcrackers. During the year I did put a shamrock on the tree for St. Patrick's Day and an Easter Egg plaque. This has been the strangest year.

Hi there Angie,

I guess it is each to his/her/its own but we put up and decorate our tree 12 days before Christmas day and take it down 12 days after Christmas day. Maybe you can strip your been-up-all-year-tree and redecorate it by changing things around? I love tree decorating fun, and we always retire some ornaments (etc.) and make place for some new ones ... some bought, others home-made and edible. I like the edibles!

Cheers

It has been difficult this year; My mother in law was in the hospital and I was running back and forth depending on if she was in the hospital or in the senior residence. She passed in mid March. The pandemic lockdown began on the day she passed. I just didn't get around to taking it down and wasn't in the mood.
