In response to the pandemic, all the major film awards are rescheduling their ceremonies for later in 2021. The Oscars have moved up to April 25th. The Screen Actors Guild Awards also postponed their ceremony by six weeks. It is now scheduled for March 14th, 2021.

The Motion Picture Academy has amended their rules concerning which films are eligible for awards. Movies which were forced to debut on streaming platforms due to Covid-19 will now be considered for nominations. The Academy has already begun uploading films for members to consider in the Best Picture category including "The Assistant", "Da 5 Bloods", "Military Wives", and "Never Rarely Sometimes Always".
