The National Society of Film Critics announced their 2019 award winners on Saturday. Greta Gerwig won Best Director for "Little Women" while Bong Joon Ho, director of Best Picture winner "Parasite", came in second. Best Cinematography went to Claire Mathon for "Portrait of a Lady on Fire" and "Atlantics". "Portrait of a Lady on Fire", directed by Celine Sciamma, will be released in the US on February 14th. "Atlantics", directed by Mati Diop, was released in November.
Mary Kay Place was named Best Actress for "Diane" and Laura Dern scooped up the Best Supporting Actress honors for her roles in "Marriage Story" and "Little Women".
