Mary Shelley, the author of "Frankenstein", has been the subject of numerous films. The latest, simply titled "Mary Shelley", is garnering attention (in part) because it is directed and co-written by Haifaa Al-Mansour. Al-Mansour is the first female filmmaker from Saudi Arabia. Her advocacy of cinema is one of the reasons Saudi Arabia lifted the ban on the public screening of films. "Mary Shelley" stars Elle Fanning and will open in theaters on May 25th.
