I recently interviewed a candidate for a maintenance position. He used every opportunity to discuss the strength of his faith and the power of prayer. He even talked about "speaking in tongues" when asked about dealing with difficult customers. He even mentioned that his power actually caused a customer to be momentarily unable to speak for several moments.
What are your thoughts on the place of anything religious during an interview?
It should not be discussed except to tell the people seeking the jobs that religion has no place in the workplace unless of course it is a job that has to do with religion.
I agree as well. It's business, not home or family. There is a time and place for everything and at the risk of interviewing with someone who does not share your views, but understanding that everyone is entitled to an opinion, it's best to not cause unnecessary stress/drama.
