Yes, Astronomy Day would be a great holiday! Though I guess since it's on a Saturday that wouldn't help most people get a day off. But it does encourage people to find something astronomical to do.

The Orlando Sentinel has a nice article and lots of pretty pictures. Have a look.

Well, it was my birthday so I was happy enough - Saturday or not. But yes - having a National Day honoring an aspect of science would be awesome as a public holiday. And then I'd be like a "Christmas baby" ha ha ha

Sun Pixies, Happy Birthday. (Somewhat late, but I'm traveling.)

But it wouldn't be like being Christmas baby, because they suffer from everyone deciding they have to have a combined Christmas and birthday present! That wouldn't have been much fun as a kid.
